Montgomery Gentry Build New Place to Play
Country duo Montgomery Gentry (Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry) have been named recipients of the 2010 Academy of Country Music/The Home Depot Humanitarian Award.
A KaBOOM! playground will be built in the duo's honor by the Home Depot, but they want you to help pick the city where the playground will be built. Fans can log on at the ACM/The Home Depot site until April 30, to vote for the city they think is most deserving. The cities include Atlanta, Los Angeles, Denver, Lexington, Ky., Toledo, Ohio, and Orlando, Fla.
An organization from the city with the most votes will receive a new, custom-designed playground built by Montgomery Gentry - with some help from The Home Depot and KaBOOM!. In 2009, winner LeAnn Rimes helped build a playground in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Other past winners of the honor are Rascal Flatts, who built their playground in Birmingham, Ala. (2008), Brooks & Dunn (2007, Nashville, Tenn. and Shreveport, La.), Vince Gill (2006, New Orleans, La.), Neal McCoy (2005, Longview, Texas), Martina McBride (2004, Medicine Lodge, Kan.) Lonestar (2003, Jackson, Tenn.) and Reba McEntire (2002, Atoka, Okla.)
As winners of the award, Montgomery Gentry also receive a specially-designed crystal keepsake from Tiffany & Co.
