Carrie Underwood Is People’s Choice for Favorite Country Artist

Carrie Underwood is the first country artist of the evening to take home a People's Choice Award, winning the trophy for Favorite Country Artist .

"It was obviously a very great 2009 for me, and that was of course because of the fans," Carrie gushed upon accepting the award. "It's going to be an even better 2010! I'd like to thank God for giving everybody in this room a love for entertainment and talent, and I just thank God that He's blessed us with such wonderful things."

This is Carrie's sixth People's Choice Award. Other nominees in the category included Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and Taylor Swift.
