The Judds ‘In Talks’ for 2010 Reunion

Nine-time CMA winners Wynonna and Naomi – The Judds – were presenters on last week's CMA Awards show, giving Darius Rucker the Best New Artist honor, the same award they won 25 years ago.

While talking to the press backstage, in addition to Wynonna offering her thoughts on Taylor Swift winning Entertainer of the Year, Naomi expounded on what it's like for her to sing harmony to Wy's melody lines.

"It's transcendent, because we literally transcend some of the emotional entanglement we're struggling with," Naomi said. "But it's also a very unearthly, spiritual experience."

Naomi explained that when they first started singing together they discovered several unique things about themselves and each other. "One is that we are blood, and that we are mother-daughter which is the most profound [element] of our relationship. I see my role in life to harmonize -- meaning to enhance or support her best effort. It's always been my role in life. Larry King [once] asked me: 'I've heard you sing solo, why don't you sing solo?' And I said, it's not my wish. My whole life, I've just been interested in singing harmony."

Officially retired since 1991, the duo performed together at California's Stagecoach Music Festival in 2008 and again at the CMA Music Festival earlier this year. Wynonna revealed at the CMA Awards that they are "in talks" to reunite next year.

"I just felt it in my spirit. A couple weeks ago, I said, 'It's 2010. It's been 25 years. It's take your mother to work year. It just feels like it's the right time; she'll be 64 in January, and I think it's time."

Calling the CMA Music Festival a "holy moment," she adds, "On the drive home I thought, 'I really appreciate where I've come from and the people do, too, and they love the Judds' music.'"
