Kenny Chesney Reigns as King of Touring

Kenny Chesney's Sun City Carnival tour has bragging rights as the hottest tour of any music genre this summer. USA Today reports that the country superstar's latest trek raked in $57.6 million in 39 shows, with 848,000 people attending. That's a big feat, considering this was Kenny's shortest headlining tour to date, and he charged the lowest ticket prices of any major headliner this year.

"I don't think anyone sets up their concert schedule or their ticket prices thinking, 'I'm gonna be the biggest tour on the road,'" Kenny says. "But these are the moments that confirm what I already know: I have the best, wildest, most committed fans any artist could ever hope for. I like to think I live their lives with them through my songs, and they've made my last 8 summers the best of a very, very good life by coming out to the shows they way they do."

On USA Today's list, Kenny's No.1 tour is followed by Billy Joel and Elton John's co-headlining trek, which grossed $55.8 million. Rounding out the top five are Beyonce, the Jonas Brothers and Paul McCartney.

Kenny is parking his tour bus in 2010 for a much needed break. But he has announced at least two performances next year: the Bayou Country Superfest in May and Bamajam in June 2010. Fans can also see Kenny duet with Dave Matthews on the CMA Awards, Nov. 11 on ABC.
