Keith UrbanKeith Urban ended the North American leg of his Escape Together World Tour with a prank on his fans! While playing 'Better Life,' the last song of the night at his concert in Buffalo, New York, Keith ran straight through the audience floor and out the front doors of the HSBC Arena. With cameras following him so that fans could watch his every move on the big screens, the country superstar hailed a taxi and sped away.

The 14,000-plus audience members were left stunned, not knowing whether or not what they'd just seen was real. Keith's band then left the stage in a rainstorm of confetti, letting fans know that yes, their favorite Aussie singer had left the building.

Keith explains that he got the idea for the stunt just prior to his two sold-out shows at New York's Madison Square Garden. "The yellow taxi is synonymous with New York City and I was trying to figure out how I could incorporate it into the show," he says. "I think I did it ... not to mention that I beat the rush for cabs after the concert let out!"

And since the prank worked so well in Manhattan, Keith decided to do it again in Buffalo. (Watch footage of his New York "escape" here.) He now has a short break before heading to Australia for the next leg of his tour. The timing of the singer's trip Down Under is perfect, as now he and wife Nicole Kidman can bring daughter Sunday to their home country for the holidays.

"We finish on the 20th of December," Keith tells The Boot. "So we'll stay down there for Christmas and enjoy the last of the warm weather."
