Keith Urban Looking for Support and Spontaneity in Benefit Show

Nashville's Soundcheck studio was the spot for a star-studded soundcheck on Monday, as Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Jason Aldean and Lady Antebellum rehearsed for their performances at Tuesday's All for the Hall benefit concert. Keith helped buddy Vince Gill orchestrate the show, which benefits the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

"The idea started with Vince asking artists to donate just one night of proceeds from the entire year and give those proceeds to the Hall," Keith explains to The Boot. "I thought if we do a concert specifically for that, it would create awareness, as well. It's a fundraiser, but it's also an awareness raiser."

Keith first visited the Hall 20 years ago, when he was an unknown singer with an immense appreciation for his musical heroes immortalized in the building. He remembers being blown away by all of the history in what was then a small building on Nashville's Music Row. The Hall moved into its new downtown Nashville location in 2001 but is already bursting at the seams with all of its memorabilia. Tuesday's show will help raise money for plans to double the size of the building. We asked Keith if there's something of his he'd like to see in the newly renovated Hall of Fame and Museum someday.

"I don't know! [laughs] I just like seeing everyone else's things in there," the humble entertainer tells us. "I always like seeing original lyric sheets ... seeing the revisions, things they crossed out. That's always cool."

Keith, Vince, Faith, Jason and Lady A will be joined by Dierks Bentley, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley and Little Big Town at Tuesday's benefit concert. While each artist will perform a few of their own hits, Keith will be on stage the entire night, playing in the house band. The guitar virtuoso explained to us that his role in the show isn't requiring much homework, as he's already a fan of all the songs being played ... at least the songs he knows will be on the set-list. But he's hoping there will be a few impromptu performances.

"We don't really quite know how it's going to flow, and I like that," Keith says of the concert's loose agenda. "If you do it right, it's just going to be like an open mic night. It should be like a huge living room."
