Kenny Rogers, who turned his classic hit song 'The Gambler' into several films for the small screen, is headed back to television to make a guest appearance on the hit comedy series, 'How I Met Your Mother.'

The singer will appear as himself on Oct. 19. in an episode called 'Dual Citizenship,' which, according to IGN TV, will have Kenny singing an emotional song called 'Goodbye Sparky,' in tribute to his beloved dog, while Ted, Marshall and Lily (played by Josh Radnor, Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan) are on a road trip to Chicago. The series also stars Neil Patrick Harris.

Kenny joins a long list of actors and celebrities who have made guest appearances on the show, including Britney Spears, Bob Barker and Mandy Moore. In addition to his 'Gambler' series, Kenny has appeared in several televised Christmas specials and concert performances.

The singer-actor, who's also an author, photographer and entrepreneur, recently received the Academy of Country Music's Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award, along with Hank Williams, Jr. and Jerry Reed.
