Alan Jackson has achieved a milestone few artists are fortunate enough to reach: 20 successful years in the music industry. But while that might be the career pinnacle for some artists, for Alan it's motivation to keep moving forward.

With a lengthy list of accomplishments that include 50 million albums sold, all 13 of his studio albums reaching the Top Five (with ten going all the way to No. 1), as well as 25 No. 1 singles to his credit, Alan has nothing left to prove. But for him, it's his love of music, and not the fame or accolades, that keep him going.

The country superstar's latest CD, 'Good Times, was his first traditional country project released in four years, although he certainly didn't spend the time lounging around. "I hadn't had a mainstream album in a few years," he said. "I'd done a gospel thing and then an artsy album with Alison (Krauss, who produced Jackson's 2006 CD 'Like Red on a Rose'). It had been a few years since I'd had an album like I'd always made. So it was time."

Now working feverishly on a new album, which will once again feature Alan as the prominent writer on many of the songs, he is less concerned with all the new artists making names for themselves, and more concerned with staying true to himself. "I think every album you have, especially if it's done well, you feel like you're competing with yourself," he said.

Alan will celebrate his two decades in music tonight with a free concert at Nashville's Cadillac Ranch.
