Jimmy Dean Escapes Devastating Fire
Country legend Jimmy Dean and his wife, Donna, narrowly escaped a fire Monday that swept through their Varina, Va. home. Three firefighters were injured trying to put out the blaze, which caused significant damage to three floors of the couple's farmhouse. Luckily, the Deans made it out unharmed. The fire's cause is not yet known.
The 80-year-old Dean had a string of crossover hits in the '60s and '70s, including 'Big Bad John,' 'Stand Beside Me' and 'I.O.U.' He was also a frequent guest-host of 'The Tonight Show' in the early '60s and eventually hosted his own TV variety program, 'The Jimmy Dean Show.' In addition to his singing, acting, and TV hosting careers, the legendary entertainer also co-founded the Jimmy Dean Sausage Company.
