'Dancing With the Stars' is minus one country star, thanks to a debilitating knee injury. Jewel has been forced to withdraw from the show after being diagnosed with fractured tibia in both legs.

Initially convinced her pain was due to the show's rigorous schedule, the singer/songwriter admits she was "totally shocked" when she heard her diagnosis. "The doctor just looked at me and said, 'You're done dancing,'" she said.

Jewel's husband, Ty Murray, will still compete, although he admits he is disappointed. "That's a big part of the reason why we did the show," he said. "It was chance for us to work together and go through this together."

Jewel hopes that, even though she has to hang up her dancing shoes, she will still be able to have a presence on the show. "I think I'll be able to sing this season, so I can sing for Ty on the show if I can't dance for him," she said. "And I hope to dance with Dmitry again and vindicate ourselves."

Also exiting the show is TV personality, Nancy O'Dell, who will need surgery to repair torn knee cartilage. Both stars will appear on the show's season-opener, Monday, March 9 on ABC, when their replacements will be announced. Jewel's replacement is rumored to be former 'Girl Next Door' and Playboy playmate, Holly Madison.
