Willie Nelson Partners With Asleep at the Wheel

Willie Nelson is going on the road again with Asleep at the Wheel. The country legends have teamed up for 'Willie and the Wheel,' a collaboration of classic western swing songs due for release on February 3. A supporting tour is set to start February 11.

"Willie and I are cooking up quite a concert," Asleep at the Wheel founder Ray Benson reports. "Not only will we be playing songs from the new album, we'll also perform Willie's classics together with Asleep at the Wheel and a full horn section. There will be a few surprises too!"

Asleep at the Wheel toured with Nelson last year on the Last of the Breed tour, alongside Merle Haggard and Ray Price. It was during that tour that the late legendary producer Jerry Wexler decided to spearhead the 'Willie and the Wheel' project. He had come up with the idea some 30 years earlier but shelved the project due to record label changes. Wexler fortunately heard the finished product before he passed away in August at the age of 91.
